Pleasantview Makeovers: Part Three

Burb: Jennifer Burb believes a girl can never have too many little black dresses, which is why she has so many. Dreaming of life in the historic glamour of Pleasantview, Jennifer had been combing real estate ads like a hawk. Not just any old house would do, she had her eye on a particular section of town where stylish young professional live. Four years into her search she bought the first available condo and began to pack before John had time to consider. When the young couple and their daughter arrived John was disappointed to say the least. Though the house was lovely and had a backyard it still seemed too small for a family with a daughter nearly into her teens. And certainly it was not large enough if he could convince Jennifer to try for another baby. John hopes he'll convince Jennifer to sell the house and buy a cozy house in a more family friendly area of town. Living next door to the Caliente sisters and Don Lothario has John more than a little concerned over the influence their lifestyles might have on his impressionable young daughter. Lucy is thrilled to move closer to her cousins because it gives her the perfect excuse to get away from her crazy parents. She's a little jealous that Lilith's parents leave her to her own devices and never overload her with ballet and violin lessons. Between her mother's excessive acquisition of beautiful things and her father's obsession with being the perfect family, Lucy is thrilled to be entering her teen years in Pleasantview where her dad will be busy with his new job and her mother will be too busy shopping and schmoozing to notice that Lucy isn't tagging along.

Caliente: Nina has always been hard to figure out. She's a hopeless romantic but she manages to compartmentalize her on and off again relationship with Don Lothario. She's a nurturing sort of individual but she's not keen on the responsibilities of starting a family. She's shy and lacks a certain confidence in her ability to manage her own life but for those who know her well she's boisterous and vibrant. When it comes to Don, Nina is willing to forgive a lot. Primarily because she understands the pitfalls of being too keen on being in love, being loved and being entirely irresponsible at the same time. Dina takes a more pessimistic view of her neighbor. Though she's had a bit of a crush on Don since their brief kiss, her perspective is that anyone with a pulse will eventually fall for Don. He's like a grilled cheese sandwich--hot, buttery and cheesy--but living on grilled cheese forever leaves you busting out of your favorite clothes and opening windows to air out the smell of gut-wrenching gas. Dina fills her days blogging for a fashion site, visiting the Goth manor and searching for vintage dresses. Though she loves spending time with her sister she's hopeful that Mortimer will consider her proposal to provide him companionship and support. Being called a gold digger is nothing new to Dina, she knows that Pleasantview is the gossip capitol of the world and she doesn't mind causing a scene.

Goodie: Herbert Goodie was enthralled with space from the moment he became aware of the night sky. He pushed himself through school always dreaming of traveling through a sea of stardust light years away from his home world but fate had other things in store for him. Midway through his sophomore year of college he took an introductory archaeology class and was hooked in over some mysterious pottery shards, from the waters near Riverblossom Hills, painted with the stars of the home galaxy of the Pollinators. So, instead of struggling to pass his physics classes he enrolled in the archaeology program and began planning out his thesis chronicling the few unusual, almost impossible artifacts which may imply alien contact prior to the year of the Green Witch. Herb was an associate professor when he met Faith. She was considered a promising young genius and like Herb she had her eyes fixed upon the skies. At first she was skeptical of Herb's roguish attitude and sense of humor. But Herb persisted. Matters were aided by their many accidental meetings at the planetarium where Herb would go when he found himself exhausted by grant proposals and the endless broken pots whose shards were plain as desert sand. The two often talked of how they'd travel together but years stretched and passed them as they promised themselves they'd make the time after the next project. As their hair greyed and their pace slowed they finally decided to leave Academie La Tour to take those trips they'd promised themselves. After half a decade on the road they decided to settle down in Pleasantview. Both had missed the pace of an academic life with all its intellectual challenges and pitfalls. With nearby Sim State University offering them visiting scholar opportunities they found a lovely condo and have settled in.

Lothario: Don knows he's a big geek whose jokes are terrible but he relishes in making his friends groan at his antics. He's well known for his roving eye but at least as a friend there's no one more fiercely faithful. Mostly he's obsessed with loving and being loved. An obsession which raises eyebrows and has resulted in more than one broken heart. His nature has helped him become a favorite doctor at the hospital particularly in the pediatrics ward. Most of the time he's convinced he'll be able to fund his lifestyle by playing poker professionally because once he won a pittance online. When shopping, eating out or going on a trip Don is generous with his tips. In fact, it is this willingness to say yes to everyone and everything that has been Don's pitfall. He's never been able to say no to anyone even when he knows he should. As a result he's still engaged to Cassandra Goth despite having realized his mistake two weeks into their engagement, nearly four years later and he's on his final postponement. Inevitably Don has no intentions of marrying Cassandra, he's aware that he could never be the sort of husband she wants or needs but he hasn't figured out a way to let her down without breaking her heart. Most of the time he realizes that if he'd said no to her proposal, they might have become great friends. His conscience is also troubled by something Bella asked him to keep secret before she disappeared but he's not sure anyone would believe him any way. So he spends his nights with Nina Caliente and hopes he'll find the nerve to do the right thing.

I confess that I was a little surprised that the bangs didn't clip but very happy too. I'm glad you like the Caliente house. Dina would probably sell it to you if you could meet her asking price ;)

Awww, thanks :) Since I'm working through the uberhood there are still four hoods (counting downtown), three universities and the vacation spots so there are many more in store ;)

And again, so pretty! I like the direction you went when redecorating the outside of these houses. It looks much nicer, I thank, than the original. Gives them a whole new feel really.

:) Glad you like them. These condos are such a trip--boxes with angles cut out of them. Brilliant!

This is all super-lovely, like always. Your decoration skill is fantastic. I particularly like your take on Don, and well, on everyone, really. There's no true "good" or "bad" people in your Pleasantview, just normal people with their own strengths and flaws.
