Desiderata Valley: part two

Aspir: Luis Aspir was a young architectural student working part time in construction to pay tuition when an SCIA proxy agent approached him with development plans for Desiderata Valley. He accepted the position and worked tirelessly to transform the town into the picturesque locale it became. Having never been curious why the businessman took a chance on an architectural student for fear of losing the chance to fulfill his dreams, Luis went into retirement never suspecting the SCIA involvement. Now that he has lots of time on his hands he's begun to notice the strange workings below the veneer of the town. Still, he overlooks the odd activities of his son and daughter-in-law because he's quite preoccupied with his granddaughter. Victor grew up in Desiderata Valley seeing the dissonance occurring just at the surface of things. He enjoyed watching his neighbors living their quaint soap operas while something bigger brewed. When he met Elizabeth he felt he'd met his mirrored soul, she too enjoyed watching the desert drama unfold from her verdant precipice. Though they sought jobs in professions not explicitly relevant to their lofty dreams of running the SCIA, they believe that the intelligence they collect will gain them a leg up over sims like Mr. Mole. Despite similar professional goals, Victor is eager to have more children with Elizabeth. He's not entirely convinced that it would be a setback for her career. Elizabeth, on the other hand, is skeptical about having more children largely because she likes being able to focus on Pauline and Victor.

Bell: To understand the Bells it is important to understand the nature of the upset surrounding Sharon Wirth's arrival. Sharon and Hannah were both enrolled in ballet lessons as soon as they were able to stand at a ballet barre. Hannah was enamored with ballet from the start but Sharon was a natural at it. In fact, Sharon excelled at almost everything. After finishing high school, Sharon took her savings and travelled like a tumbleweed joining performance groups but never committing. After she'd run through her savings and meager earnings she found a position as a Jazzercise instructor at Spark! When she called her sister to tell her the news, Hannah offered her the spare room of the Bell's newly purchased home. Hannah had grown close to her sister from a distance. She'd enjoyed the colorful letters her sister would write and was glad to see her sister thriving on the road. But all it took was a few pliés with her sister to remind her why absence had warmed her heart. Despite her natural talent, Sharon is much more interested in improv and garish magic tricks than she is in the elegant and hardworking world of dance. Added to this the extensive time that Sharon spends with Isaac learning "mime tricks". Hannah is convinced that there's not a single sim who would spend hours swapping whimsical pantomime tips and tricks with her husband. Isaac on the other hand is quite happy to have Sharon in the house, he'd been a class clown in school and then he started being invited to parties to be paid to be one, but he'd like to become a dancer like his wife. He's always been too shy to ask Hannah for dance lessons; with Sharon's help he thinks he could surprise her for their anniversary. Sharon is a bit oblivious to her sister's concerns about Isaac, she believes Isaac is wonderful husband material and is glad that Hannah has someone like him but thinks he's rather bland and lacks any mystery. Daniel isn't sure if he's happy about his aunt moving in. Like his father he's got a talent for entertaining but with Sharon around there's not quite enough limelight to go around.

Kim: A variety of rumors circulated about Robert and Cynthia's son during their time in Studio Town. It was odd to their co-stars that the boy looked nothing like Robert or Cynthia and the couple's silence only fueled the rumor mills. Some speculated that Robert had been to Doctor Vu prior to working as an actor. Others believed Cynthia must have had an affair with the mailman she'd been nice to when he visited the set. But the rumor that everyone liked best was that the couple had secretly adopted Justin when one of the extras came to them under mysterious circumstances. Robert and Cynthia remained tight-lipped about Justin which served to alienate them from their Studio Town friends. After their show was cancelled, Robert decided they would move to Desiderata Valley. He'd enjoyed his stay there during the two weeks he'd visited Strangetown to research his role. Cynthia misses the drama of the entertainment industry but she wants her son to grow up under less scrutiny. Justin is excited to be so close to Strangetown, he hopes to someday meet the Curious brothers whose books on science are more exciting than any of the scripted drama Justin acted in with his parents.

All three houses are really very lovely. I think you are quite talented in that you managed to give each their own sort of personality. I could easily see the families you described living in them and your decorating seems very natural.

Thanks! Glad that the families seem natural in their environment. I was worried about the Kim house because of the shape but side by side with the others it seems to fit well enough.

The 3 houses look amazing!! It's interesting that you manage to keep that porch on Bells house and actually donne an incredible garden around it :) (I say this because recently I "madeover" all my Desiderata and destroyed Bells porch and Luis Aspir house and made him live in the main house with the rest of the family :P)

Your Kims look so "artists" and their back story fits them so well :) (as well as the other families!)

I considered destroying the Bell's porch because it winds up being kind of an odd addition. I think placing it near the beach gave it a definitive purpose that it lacked before. The porch would have worked much better on a beach lot in my opinion.

It was pretty odd that they gave Luis Aspir his own seperate house. The Aspir lot is really bigger than is necessary which was the primary reason I kept him in his own seperate house.

The Kims were an interesting challenge. I hated the "atomic" style but I liked the idea of keeping them somewhat throwback. Glad you enjoyed them all :)

All of your makeovers have been amazing :D Your back stories for the characters are so thorough and well thought out, and the houses are so beautifully detailed!

I'm glad you liked them :) The little details and the reasoning behind them are the most fun of any makeover.

All of your makeovers so far have been wonderful. :)I My favorite of this bunch, I think, is the Kim family. I love the house and I think you made Cynthia look absolutely gorgeous.

Cynthia seemed like a natural choice for some of the more model-y pose boxes I have. I like to pose my sims as naturally as possible but Cynthia I think I could have done an entire photoshoot and it would have worked with her character. Glad you're enjoying the makeovers :)

Robert and Cynthia are so much fun. I wish they'd binned them instead of making them a single place family. Same thing with Tara.
